Location: Rt 4, 40 miles north of Concord
Oldest Mica mine in the US, gift shop, museum, snack bar, fantastic views. Mineral collecting permitted. Fun for all ages!Ruggles Mine was started in 1803 by Sam Ruggles. The mine has been owned by many large companies including General Electric and Bon Ami Co. In 1960 it was purchased by Ruggles Mine, Inc. as a source of raw material for a mica grinding plant in Warren, NH. The mine was opened to the public in 1963 as a tourist attraction.

The mine has been written up in college text books on geology and 150 different minerals have been identified by a government survey in 1945.

The mine is visited by tourists from all over the world. Currently we employ 14 people.
